Root Drawings | Mycorrhizal Networks

How do you grow roots in and to a specific place. How do you embody place. These artworks respond to notions of displacement in a time of uncertainty. Through the act of drawing with inks made from foraged organic matter and pigment, walking, listening, gathering and being, MacLeod, begins to root herself to place.

This series of intricate and detailed drawings were meticulously created during my time residing in the serene Ardmeanach Peninsula on the picturesque Isle of Mull, nestled within the Inner Hebrides of Scotland in 2023. Utilising a unique blend of foraged organic elements and anthropic materials sourced from the surrounding landscape, each stroke and line captures the essence of the rugged beauty that enveloped me during this creative process.
